What is German A2 Level?

The A2 Level in German is designed for ‘upper beginners,’ building upon the foundational skills learned in A1. After completing the A1 course, you can advance to A2, where you’ll develop the ability to discuss your job, family, and daily life. You’ll also be able to comprehend and express time in German, and write both formal and informal emails.

The German Language Level A2 certificate, recognized by the Goethe-Institut, TELC, DTZ, and ÖSD, serves as proof of your basic German knowledge. This certification is often required for visa applications, such as for spouse immigration, and is accepted by German embassies worldwide.

A2 is the second step in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which follows a six-level competency scale.
